$2.1b arms deal: EFCC raids ex-VP Sambo’s office

The raid was said to have been in continuation of the probe into the alleged conversion of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgency to funding the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party and as gifts to individuals and companies.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have raided the Abuja office of a former Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo.
The raid was said to have been in continuation of the probe into the alleged conversion of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgency to funding the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party and as gifts to individuals and companies.
The raid was reportedly carried out over the weekend.
It was gathered that N25 million was traced to the accounts of one of Sambo’s aides, simply identified as Daboh, from the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisah Metuh.
Metuh was said to have been given N400 million out of the $2.1 billion by a former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
