EFCC begins probe of 12 senior Army officers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced the probe of 12 senior officers of the Nigerian Army.

This was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Usman, late on Thursday.
The statement, however, did not state the offences for which they are being investigated.

Usman said the Officers were sent to the EFCC by the Nigerian Army for investigation.

Among them, according to the statement, are three serving and one retired Major Generals.

Others are three Brigadier Generals, four Colonels and one Lieutenant Colonel.

Usman, however, said the Officers would not be tried in civil court after their investigation if found guilty.

He said those found culpable will be tried by a military Court Martial.
